"We Are Teens Supporting Teens. And we want to change the way teens receive support"
Project AngelLine is an online, peer-led matching program that connects you to an Angel (your own Teen Mental Health Specialist). We aim to support and promote childhood and adolescent mental wellbeing.
AngelLine is a free, secure, and anonymous space to talk to a teen expert.
You can talk to your angel in your own home, at your own pace, and at a time that suits you.
The Program is developed and staffed by a team of youth mental health professionals and advocates. They are trained and will provide support with the Project AngelLine Manual. The Project AngelLine manual is developed based on principles of psychology, neurology, and drama therapy, combined with social care and support. Read more about the Project AngelLine Manual here.

What is Project AngelLine?Project AngelLine is an online from teen to teen, match and support initiative. We understand that sometimes only teens know what teens are going through.
-
What are the next steps after I signed up? How long until I can start? After you signed up for Project AngelLine via email, we will ask you to fill in some forms and documents. We try to match you with an Angel, our professionally trained teen counselors. We will also get to know what you are going through during this step. This process can take a few hours or a few days, depending on Angel availability. After you are matched with an angel and your session time is confirmed and scheduled, you can then begin your first session with your Angel.

What usually happens in an AngelLine session? We listen, support and we are here for you through having safe and comfortable conversations with you. We know that talking to our angels about your struggles is a scary, challenging and difficult process. Talking to our Angels may be the first time you say out loud what it is you’re going through. To begin, we will schedule your first session for you to chat with your angel. Your angel will ask for your name and what you want to talk about. Then they’ll explain some basic rules before you get into talking. We are here to work with you to understand what you are currently going through. We will see how we can work out your next steps, and we will suggest some assignments (which are tips and strategies!) to help you, and we will practice those together and find ones that are exclusively useful for you. If it’s helpful, we may tell you about places where you can seek for long-term help or professional support. At the end of the session, we will schedule your next appointment with you. Some things we won’t do- we won’t judge you, we won’t tell you what you should do, we won’t tell you that these feelings are “too much”, dumb or invalid. We won’t diagnose you, and we won’t try to “fix you”. We understand that this is a really hard battle. Project AngelLine is here to support you.
-
Who are the Project AngelLine Angels? Who will be helping me?After you sign up, we will match you to an available Angel- a trained teen crisis intervention specialist. We understand that different angels have different approaches and methods of support. Through the matching process, we are confident that we can help you find the right Angel for you. But, if you started your first sessions and you think your angel isn’t a good fit, we can help you match with another teen Angel. Angels are teen volunteers aged 14-21. All of them undergo intensive training and shadowing, and learn our AngelLine Manual before being your teen crisis intervention specialist. They come from, and have a range of different experiences, approaches and backgrounds- some may have in the past recovered from a mental illness, or have simply supported a friend or peer, or just teens that care about the topic of mental health and support the work and cause of Shall We Talk. All Angels are trained by the Shall We Talk Foundation team- don't worry, you are in good hands.

Is AngelLine a Substitute for Therapy? No. Although Angels who work with you undergo training and follow a set of rules from the AngelLine manual, Project AngelLine is not capable of substituting therapy. While this program may have similar benefits of improving your quality of life and building friendships to offer you a support system and to be here as your listener, your Angel cannot diagnose you, or prescribe any medication.
-
How is my privacy protected? Can I stay anonymous?Your privacy is 100% protected. When you sign up, we won't ask you for your full name or contact. You can pick any name, just so we can keep you in our program system. Please note that we will ask you for an emergency contact information. This would only be in use if your Angel believes that you are prone to cause or be in danger.
